About Me

My passion for helping others began in my teens, when I volunteered as a community health aide in Honduras and the Dominican Republic. During that time, I discovered not only a natural ability for this kind of work but also a deep sense of purpose—one that has guided my path ever since.

I graduated with my nursing degree from Austin Community College in 1988 and began my career as a registered nurse. Over the next 25 years, I worked in a variety of roles, from public health to critical care, caring for people during some of their most difficult and vulnerable moments. Alongside my hospital work, I volunteered at 2 community health clinics caring for those without access to traditional health care.

A Safe and Peaceful Space

Why Choose Mary?

Talking things through with a kind, supportive therapist can be helpful for anyone. Whether you’re dealing with something happening right now, working through a past experience, or just feeling overwhelmed by a lot of things at once, we can figure it out together.

I draw from several therapeutic techniques including EMDR, CBT, experiential therapy, and internal family systems. With a nursing background, I also take a holistic approach—considering diet, health habits, and spirituality when appropriate. I’m passionate about helping frontline workers facing vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue.

We’ll focus on what brought you to therapy and work toward your goals, at your pace. While many people face similar challenges, your path is your own—and together, we’ll find what works best for you.

I have experience supporting individuals facing addiction, approaching it from both a medical and mental health perspective. I also have a deep passion for working with frontline and healthcare workers who are struggling with vicarious trauma, secondary trauma, or compassion fatigue.

  • Over 10 years of experience in mental health and addiction counseling.
